Cork University Hospital to become a Smoke-Free Campus
On the 31st of May 2010, Cork University Hospital will become a Smoke-Free Campus.
This means that smoking will not be permitted anywhere on the Hospital grounds, inside or outside, including doorways, entrances, walkways, roads, car parks, cars, bicycle sheds or bus shelters.
This Smoke Free Policy will apply to all staff, patients, visitors, contractors and other persons who enter the Hospital grounds for any purpose.
The introduction of this new policy reflects the fact that CUH is designated as one of the eight regional cancer centres in Ireland, its status as a Health Promoting Hospital and as a Smoke-Free Hospital. This health initiative will provide a healthier, safer and cleaner environment for all with a better outcome for patients.
Smoking cessation advice and services are freely available for patients and staff in the Hospital.
We thank you for your support and cooperation.
Mr. Tony McNamara,
Chief Executive Officer Cork University Hospital Group
