Paediatric Diabetes Centre in CUH awarded as a SWEET Collaborative Centre
SWEET e.V. is an international network of centres of Reference for paediatric diabetes care with the aim of improving secondary prevention, diagnosis and control of type 1 and type 2 diabetes in children and adolescents. Initiated with support of the EU Public Health Program in 2008 the SWEET group has over 9 years of experience in creating and sustaining a high quality professional network based on agreed standards of care, criteria for certification, international guidelines and quality control, including peer review and data collection, sharing and benchmarking. In the meantime, SWEET is organized as a registered charity with close ties to scientific organizations such as the International Society for paediatric and Adolescent Diabetes (ISPAD) and NGO’s such as IDF Europe.
SWEET has the pleasure to certify the Paediatric Diabetes Centre of Cork University Hospital as a SWEET Collaborative Centre, on the basis of the Peer Review Program, which acknowledged its high quality of patient care and education, and the clear focus on research.
The conclusion of the Peer Review visit was that: ”The Paediatric Diabetes Centre in Cork is striving for an excellent level of clinical care and support for all its patients and their families. The team have worked hard over the last 5 years in a cohesive manner that has shown major benefits in the development of the service resulting in improved outcomes. ... This is a dynamic, enthusiastic team that is striving to provide excellent, individualised patient care. ...”
