Cork University Hospital has been monitoring over the past number of weeks the emerging evidence of some cases of suspected Norovirus infection. There are a number of cases with suspected Norovirus Infection on the inpatient wards.
As Norovirus is a community infection and is generally carried in to the hospital by patients or visitors it is necessary with immediate effect to restrict visiting at the Cork University Hospital to critically unwell patients and children.
Dr. Mike O'Connor, Clinical Director has advised it is imperative that visitors contact the inpatient ward in advance if they have family/relatives who are presently an inpatient in Cork University Hospital.
Patient care is paramount in CUH and this situation is being treated as a priority by Hospital Management who have taken steps to manage this issue
