World Hand Hygiene Day 25 April 2018
The theme for World Hand Hygiene Day this year is Sepsis. The lead in Sepsis for the South/South West Hospital Group is Sinead Horgan who will attend the promotional stand in the CUH canteen on the day. She is very keen to raise the awareness of sepsis and support the prevention of sepsis with good hand hygiene.
Also at the exit to the canteen, there will be an art project by a third year textile and education student, Katie O’Shea, from the National College of Art and Design. Katie, herself, suffered from sepsis a few years ago, and has kindly agreed to lend CUH her artwork on sepsis for the day. She will be present to talk to people about her experience.
There will also be a display of a children’s colouring competition – focusing on hand hygiene. The colouring competition will be open to all children of staff and patients, and to children in the children’s wards. There will be prizes for best in each category.
