Young Parent Services (Links)
Our young parents service ‘Links’ is a programme supporting young parents up to 24 years of age. The programme supports young parents by providing information on the physical and emotional changes experienced during pregnancy and following birth of baby.
About the programme
The ‘Links’ programme runs over three specific antenatal classes facilitated by a midwife, physiotherapist and maternity social worker.
Topics covered:
- Patient Care and Health in Pregnancy.
- Signs of labour and admission to hospital.
- Stages of labour.
- Pain relief options.
- Breathing and movement in labour.
- Virtual tour of the hospital including the labour ward.
- Feeding and bathing your baby.
- Emotional and psychological aspects of pregnancy and parenthood.
- Family planning.
- Information on relevant community support services.

Counselling & Support
A confidential counselling and support service is also available at each clinic to provide an opportunity for young parents to explore their feelings about being pregnant and discuss any worries or concerns they may have.
