ICT Services

The ICT Department at Cork University Hospital primarily provides a project implementation and a user support role across the group of hospitals.  There is also a management role in respect of the network and server infrastructure with the bulk of the technical work being handled by the staff in the HSE South’s ICT Department.

Cork University Hospital has a range of patient centred and administrative systems which are managed by a small group of staff based at the hospital, supported in many of the technical areas by the ICT staff of the HSE South.

The hospital makes extensive use of the iSoft Patient Administration System (iPM) and also uses the iSoft Clinical Manager System (iCM) as it’s clinical information system. Integrated with these systems are the AGFA RIS/PACS for Radiology image management and the iSoft iLab Laboratory Information Management System. The AGFA solution has also been deployed for image management within Cardiology. These systems provide the core of the patient based systems at CUH. Within Radiotherapy, the LANTIS system is used to manage the data associated with this highly technical environment.

Laboratory results are communicated electronically in a secure fashion to GP practices around the region based on HL7 messaging which is integrated in to the GP practice management systems.

As one of the main hospitals in the country CUH are continuously involved in national ICT initiatives and provide significant input in to a number of national projects.
