Services Department
The Services Department provides support and integration of clinical and non-clinical services in CUH Group.
The department supports organisation wide service delivery and in collaboration with the Finance Department, assists in implementing service plans for Housekeeping, Medical Physics, Chaplaincy, Biomedical Engineering, Security, Portering, Health Records, Catering, Pharmacy, Podiatry, Dietetics, Social Work, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Supplies/ Procurement, Speech & Language Therapy and Hospital Sterile Services Departments. In addition, management of the Major Accident Plan, the development of a CUH Influenza preparedness plan, the Evacuation Policy, Hospital Watch, Freedom of Information, waste management, tobacco legislation and Fire Training all come within the remit of this department. The services department is also represented on many hospital committees as outlined below.

Recent Developments included:
- Coordinated with the maintenance department the delivery of a safe working environment
- Completed the roll out of the fire register
- Continued monitoring of radon, results continue to be well within safety limits
- Updated the CUH Safety Statement
- Updated the CUH Major Emergency Plan
- Updated the CUH Fire Plan
- Prepared a CUH Flu Pandemic Plan
- Introduced new theatre scrubs policy
- Introduced an updated Internal Emergency Response Plan
- Removed asbestos from all inpatient areas
- Initiated a Hygiene Services Team and undertook environmental walkabouts monthly
- Prepared new CUH internal telephone directory – updated annually
- Facilitated in the transfer of cytology services from CUH to the National Cervical Screening Programme
- Participated in integrating the SMOH laundry staff and service to the CUH site
- In liaison with the HSSD enabled the instrument reprocessing from CUMH Gynae theatre in the CUH HSSD
