This treatment involves assessment, education and treatment of patients with musculoskeletal disorders, including fractures (broken bones) and soft tissue injuries (muscles, ligaments & tendons). Patients receive treatment either individually, or in a group with other patients with a similar condition (e.g. patients with back pain). Assessment and treatment of leg and foot pain may require orthotics (in-soles) which will be prescribed by your physiotherapist. Necessary aids are supplied and the use of crutches or a frame is taught as requested. Review of patients in the emergency department and fracture clinics have also been established to provide assessment, advice and exercises as appropriate to musculoskeletal patients (joint & muscular injuries) attending the emergency department and patients following a fracture or other trauma, post removal of a cast / brace / splint. Follow-up physiotherapy in the main department is arranged if necessary.
