Wound Care Clinic
Cork University Hospital (CUH) is committed to improving and streamlining a co-ordinated and evidence-based wound care service that will result in better outcomes for patients. For this reason Cork University Hospital is the first Hospital in Ireland to have a Registered Advanced Nurse Practitioner (RANP) in wound care. The introduction of the Registered Advanced Nurse Practitioner (RANP) in wound care has facilitated the continuing development of an expert wound care service for the benefit of patients attending CUH and the wider community. The RANP provides caseload management of patients presenting with non-healing (acute and chronic) wounds requiring conservative management (non-surgical approach to wound healing). This service is delivered in collaboration with the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) in accordance with best practice guidelines for wound management.
This busy clinic serves all specialities within the hospital (i.e. Plastics, General, Vascular and cardiothoracic surgery, ED follow – up , Orthopaedics, gynaecological, Obstetrics, Palliative Care, Oncology and Medicine).
